FAQ
What is Han Yoga?
We have taken the foundation of Hatha yoga along with eight other disciplines and produced an eclectic blend that is subtle and inviting for any one in any physical condition. We created HanChickitsa; yoga that soothes the body, balances the mind, and nourishes the soul. More info about Han Yoga? Report by Jacqueline Jaszka. Page1 Page2 Page3
Yoga is a 7,000 year old discipline derived from India. Yoga is the union of body, mind, and breath. This union creates the harmony that allows us to gain clarity from a place that is innate, immutable, and perfect.
We only have room for the short answer here and it is that yoga makes your body feel better. It makes you tune in, chill out, and shape up all at the same time.
HanChikitsa is for everyone, any age, any weight, and any physical condition. Since HanChikitsa is a soft form exercise it is easy on the body, joints, and muscles.
In Sankrit 'namas' means; 'bow, obeisance, reverential salutation'. It comes from the root 'nam', which carries meaning of bending, bowing, and becoming silent. 'Te' means 'to you'. Thus "namaste" means 'I bow to you'. This usually transpires either before and/or after each class.
NO! You are not required to touch your toes or stand on your head. HanChikitsa provides a moderate build to your own purpose. This process is to gain mental/physical flexibility and strength to find yourself letting go and truly understand “how-to”. Just like the mind, the body needs continuous work to keep all of its components moving along – yoga is a mild way to keep the wheels turning.
You do not need to be fit or flexible to attend any of our classes
If you are new to the practice or if you need to refresh materials? If you are new to the practice or if you need to refresh materials, it is best to start with the classes marked 'basic' or 'level 1'.” For best results when you start yoga, take 2 to 3 classes a week - you will build insight and understanding through consistent practice in class.
What do I need to know for my first class? Avoid big meals two hours before class. Bring a beach sized towel and sticky yoga mat. If you do not have one, you can use studio mats. For optimum hygiene and practice it is recommended that you purchase your own mat. We have mats for sale at the studio. Arrive at your first class 10 minutes prior to start time so that you can clear the registration process. Our classes offer a noncompetitive environment so that everyone at any stage of the practice can learn and enjoy.
